Feathers fly as Mundine takes aim at Green

CONTROVERSIAL fighter Anthony Mundine has copped some of his own after taking aim at newly crowned WBA light heavyweight Danny Green and slamming former world champion Jeff Fenech as `jealous’ of his success. Mundine `talked turkey’ with a caged chicken he called `Danny Green’ in his latest stunt when announcing a WBA super middleweight title defence against fellow Muslim Nadar Hamden for the Sydney Entertainment Centre on February 27.

The former rugby league player claimed Green was `scared’ to fight him again. I’m willing to whip him again. I’m willing to stop him. I know I can stop him. I probably could have done it the first time, said Mundine before attacking Green’s weekend win over WBA light heavyweight world champion Stipe Drews in Perth. He had a farcical fight to win the world title. He doesn’t deserve it. I should show him who the real champion is.

He (Drews) should have run a marathon instead of having a fight that night. (Dance), that’s all he did. I know he (Green) don’t want to fight me. (Does) he want to get his arse spanked again? The last time he got spanked for 12 rounds. Next time he won’t go 12 rounds. You know I’m the champ. They all know who the real champ is — I’m the man.

Mundine’s outburst didn’t take long to reach Green’s ears in Perth, where the newly crowned light heavyweight champion was waiting for wife Nina to give birth to their second child. Green initially didn’t want to lower himself to dignifying the chicken stunt with a response, but eventually threw one back Mundine’s way. The chicken that Mundine is talking to is of the same mentality as `Choc’, said Green.
